Castlegould from below. Part of the Gold Coast estate of Howard Gould and later Daniel Guggenheim, this tower, made in imitation of Irish castles, became a fancy stable when the Gould lady of the house didn’t think it suited her. It’s now an aging structure in the Sands Point Preserve in the Village of Sands Point, Long Island, #NY.
Classic Hempstead. While out reporting noticed the façade of this building, the “Hempstead Bank,” in the New York village of the same name. The boarded window and door told me no transactions have taken place there in some time.
I knew these as limoncillos growing up. Others call them quenepas. Translation: Spanish lime, or if you prefer Latin: “Melicoccus bijugatus.” Under any name, a delicious Tropical treat tonight.
